Wait … no … that title probably isn’t fair. And I did promise to stop using my blog as a tool for venting frustrations with people who steal my money and give me nothing in return.
Thank God they were able to do it for me this year. Just read their fine, puffy, example of sports journalism and self-congratulation. Pay particular attention to the 21 pages of comments from fellow former MLB fans who also got ripped off.
I never thought I’d actually pine for the days of watching jerky video and out-of-synch sound on Silverlight.
Meanwhile, readers continue to submit even more sources of fun, informative reading about how millioniaires and sterioid abusers continue to alienate and ignore their fanbase.
Update … can I just add one observation?
Automated response from the MLB Email Support:
“For all technical questions or issues we encourage you to visit our FAQ: mlb.mlb.com/mlb/help/faq_technical.jsp, or our MLB Forum:http://www.mlbsupport.com/forum/.”
Written response from http://www.mlbsupport.com/forum/:
“Send an email to csresponse@website.mlb.com, they should be able to clear up whatever is causing this on your account.”
Woah! Did you see that? That was my buck being passed back and forth and back and forth!
Update: Once I called phone support and asked to regretfully cancel my account (since you have to cancel within five days to get a refund), they were able to fix everything. He gave some fake technobabble answer that made no sense (and I’m the king of fake technobabble), but what it boiled down town is this: They add your IP to some table and everything instantly starts working.
To Summarize: The support email address on the website sent me an automated message telling me to use to the Forum. The Forum just told me to try a different email address. After almost 24 hours, that address hasn’t even bothered to send an automated message of any kind. So really, guys, save yourself the trouble and just call them and deal with the hold times and smart-assed phone reps. It’s the only thing that has worked.
I’m Happy that I have baseball again, but sickened that I’m apparently subsidizing a monopoly of arrogant fuck-ups. (And no, I’m not talking about Citibank bailouts …)
