Me: Wow, that steak was a little bigger than 16oz.
Waiter: It was 29oz, sir.
Me: Holy shit! I didn’t know you had steaks that big.
Waiter: We had it cut specially for you.
Me: Why!? I ordered the 16oz steak.
Waiter: No, you ordered a 29oz steak.
Me: Oh, crap, no! I meant to say the steak dinner that was on special for 29 dollars!
Waiter: (Hands over bill for a $58 custom cut steak)
Now, I ask you, WHY if I was going to order a custom cut steak, would I have wanted an oddly specific size like 29oz!? Wouldn’t I have said 24 or 32 or some multiple of a half pound? Why would I want a 1.81 pound steak?! And why didn’t the waiter make the connection that the special he had just recited for me was for a $29 steak dinner?! Yet, there it is.
