It is amusing how much of Russian Radio is actually in English — most of the bumpers and songs, anyway. It’s like they know we’re listening to them. That said, if you like your classic American hard rock but don’t mind occasionally breaking it up with something new that challenges you a bit, I recommend giving Radio Maximum out of Moscow a shot.

The late-night hosts (actually, it’s morning there when I’m listening around bedtime), Pashkov and Kiriloff speak in Russian, but their tone is that universal Morning Zoo format.  One high-voiced guy full of energy; the other, a deep voice filled with skepticism and/or annoyance.  Then they both have their quirky, unique laugh. Amusingly, after months of listening, I only just tonight realized you can put Google Translate in “conversation mode,” and it will give you a transcript of their show in whatever language you prefer.

Okay, the jokes are not that far off from what you hear in the States on a Morning Zoo station. I don’t know if that means humor is universal, or someone is stealing gags from the other side of the world.
