Bread_and_Circuses_104This article says it far more politely than I can.  It’s finally come down to this: exploiting the disenfranchised for fun and ratings … and on the cheap.  Yes, for less than half a day’s wages from your CEO (off-set by advertising dollars, no doubt), you too can have a brand new reality show as a mid-season replacement.  Sure, lots of great societies have used their working class as harmless entertainment and a little profit, and it worked out soooooo well for them. Besides, at least in this version, nobody gets eaten by lions when they fail to amuse the rich guy in the expensive seats.

This … and 200 other channels I couldn’t name because I never watched them … is why I cancelled cable.  Honestly, when television networks go away?  I get more entertainment watching cat videos on YouTube.
