Busy week at work this week, but I’ve cracked the secret to that: Ambient DnB music. I’ve started listening to it frequently when I need my brain to stay focused on working. I know, it seems counterintuitive to play music at 180 BPM to center yourself, but you’d be surprised how well this works. Steady beat, constant energy, emotional shifts, and a few complex changes to keep you from zoning out or being hypnotized. As a bonus point, because Brokenbeats.net broadcasts out of Kyiv, Ukraine, where World War Three has been ready to break out at any time over the past three years, as long as Acentos is still transmitting, we have at least a few more minutes to go.
Huge props to Acentos, who runs not only a great live radio stream through the madness of the past ten months, but also hosts a pretty nice fledgling online community via its website. Brokenbeats.Net features an extensive, commercial-free playlist of ambient/atmospheric drum and bass music with both fresh and slightly older tracks.
Acentos is also my first nominee for an end-of-year act of kindness (where I drop the last of my Christmas budget into tip jars and kickstarters for random people, just to say, “hi.”), for being my brain’s unseen and unheard autopilot during the “thinking times.”
